Pastor Liz has served at Edgewood since May of 2016. She is excited by Edgewood’s strong commitment to social justice, love of community, and love of God. Pastor Liz is passionate about helping people of all ages find meaning in their lives and anti-racism work. Each week she crafts worship that strives to be welcoming of all participants and shares the Good News of God’s love and grace. Having worked and volunteered for several years in summer camps, she is also committed to outdoor ministry and singing silly songs as often as possible.

She earned a Master of Divinity from Andover Newton Theological School in Boston, MA. and a BA in English from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA. She grew up in California, and having lived all over the country, is thrilled to finally grow roots in East Lansing. Pastor Liz comes to us with her wife Beth, two cats, and a dog. On days off she enjoys biking, weaving, vegetarian cooking, and visiting National Parks.

Adult Choir Director
Monty Bieber is a native of South Dakota who came to Michigan State in 1969 to study journalism, a field he quickly abandoned for a degree in Music Education. He studied choral conducting under Dr. Robert Harris and sang with the Edgewood choir during his college years. He and wife Nancy met on stage while performing with the MSU Opera Workshop, and were married at Edgewood in 1974. After teaching music in Big Rapids, Michigan for five years, Monty and Nancy returned to Lansing in 1979 where Monty was for several years the music director at First Christian Church. Monty returned to Edgewood as Adult Choir Director in September 2010. In his “day job” Monty is the President of Shadow Mountain Consulting working in project management and data warehousing, and Nancy is Academic Program Coordinator for the MSU Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
He feels it has been very pleasant working here at Edgewood and he especially enjoys the great people that he works with--both staff and congregation.
