Outreach and Mission Activities at Edgewood
CHRISTIAN SERVICES
Edgewood participates in many of the outreach programs organized through the ecumenical Christian Services office, such as collecting personal needs items, backpacks, school supplies, and children's clothing.
UCC "FIVE FOR FIVE" OFFERINGS
Edgewood donates generously to all five annual UCC Special Offerings: Neighbors in Need (Octrober); The Christmas Fund (December; One Great Hour of Sharing (March); Strengthen the Church (May); Our Church's Wider Mission (Year-round).
FARMER'S MARKET
This is one of the most interesting and colorful of Edgewood's projects. From June to October members bring in extra produce or plants from their gardens throughout the spring, summer and fall. Other members buy the plants and produce after worship and the money is donated to recipients in the Lansing area and in sub-Saharan Africa.
LOAVES AND FISHES
Edgewood members prepare and deliver evening meals to this Lansing-area shelter twice a month. Wish List for Loaves & Fishes Ministries, Dec 2017
HEIFER PROJECTS AND UNICEF
During the Advent season Edgewood sells Heifer and Unicef gifts as alternatives to regular Christmas shopping and as a way to give a gift twice -- once to the recipient and once to those in need.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Edgewood supports Habitat financially and organizes work crews for the Interfaith Home Builds.
GREATER LANSING NETWORK AGAINST WAR AND INJUSTICE (GLNAWI)
Edgewood is a partner organization with GLNAWI, which works on peace efforts, education, and social justice issues.
