Edgewood United Church is a progressive Christian community with strong ties to East Lansing and Michigan State University. We are especially active in efforts to promote social justice, cultivate interfaith collaboration, and support the area LGBTQ+ community.
We are a church with a wide spectrum of beliefs and religious experiences. Some of us grew up evangelical or Catholic, some grew up in the United Church of Christ, some didn’t grow up going to church at all. Some have a deep faith in God our Creator while others are open to the possibility of God, but aren’t sure of the details. Some of believe in Christ while others find inspiration in the historical Jesus. We are all invited to bring our hopes, beliefs, doubts, and questions with us to church – knowing that Edgewood is a place where we can explore our faith together.
We are a church of all generations. On Sunday morning you will see infants sleeping through the sermon and toddlers wiggling in the pews, children and youth talking and playing in our classrooms, young adults and elders getting to know each other over coffee in the Social Hall.
We are a church of many different backgrounds – blue collar workers and academics, retirees and students, transplants and locals – united by our belief that there is a place for each of us at God’s table, and at Edgewood United Church.
