Edgewood United Church takes seriously it’s call to nurture children through faith formation. At our church, our youngest members are a vibrant part of our community.
Each Sunday morning we offer Sunday School during the 10am worship service. Youth and children begin in worship with their families. After opening prayers and music, there is a “Story for All Ages” with the Pastor or one of our youth leaders. Kids are then invited to go to class together, or to continue to worship with their families. Children, including their wiggles and giggles, are always welcome throughout every worship service. After worship, you will find kids in the Social Hall eating snacks, getting to know older members of our community, and continuing to play together.
There is a fully staffed nursery and preschool program for infants and older before, during, and after worship. Childcare is offered after worship as well so that parents can freely participate in post-church activities. Edgewood understands the struggles of parents to balance their own faith formation and sense of belonging, so we offer an option for childcare for all ages at most Edgewood events during the week.
Sunday School
Our Sunday School program is designed to help children connect with God in ways that speak to their life experiences. We offer a progressive Christian curriculum that encourages questions, values diversity, and instills a love for all people, creation, and God. It helps children creatively explore their faith as it relates to their growing sense of who they are and how they connect to the world around them.
The Sunday School program – including the staff and volunteers that lead it – celebrates and affirms all types of families, all gender expressions and sexualities, all races and cultures, and all abilities. Edgewood is a place where children are free to fully be themselves, and to bring their hopes, struggles, doubts, questions, ideas, and interests to our church community.
Pre-registration for Sunday School is not necessary – simply show up on Sunday morning and you will be connected with our Christian Education Coordinator, welcomed into our classrooms, and meet your child’s teachers.
