Meghan’s Story

Meghan’s Story

Meghan, her husband Ben, and their four kids have been involved in different ways at Edgewood over the years: ministry team leaders, worship leaders and lay preachers, Church School, Edgewood Camp, and Circles of Faith small group ministry.

WHY EDGEWOOD?

I first came to Edgewood in high school because many of my friends came to church here. I loved singing in the choir and going on retreats with the youth group. When I returned to East Lansing after many years away, my husband and I looked at several church but we both felt most comfortable at Edgewood. It’s focus on social justice and its Open and Affirming congregation felt like the right place to worship and raise our family.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT OUR CHURCH?

Edgewood’s focus on serving others, seeking justice, and walking humbly with God fits our family’s values. Edgewood provides a safe environment for my kids to establish relationships with like-minded kids and adults. However, Edgewood also encourages all people to continually ask questions and seek answers from a wide variety of sources.

I love the community at Edgewood. I have developed many close friendships and I enjoy my time socializing and working within the church walls and also playing outside of church. My family takes an annual kayaking trip with another couple from Edgewood, we enjoy group dinners and potlucks in friends’ homes, and I’ve just started playing handbells with the youth on Sunday mornings.
